Listen and Antalya everything:
Monday November 5. Spent a day on the bus going to Antalya. The countryside was very pretty, going through the mountains toward the Mediterranean. On the way we stopped at a pretty roadside restaurant with a wagon-wheel motif. The food was excellent and soon a raucus set of backgammon games broke out, courtesy of our bus driver. My luck (or lack thereof) with the dice made me very uncompetitive. Some of the other group members tried, to no avail. Mert, however, seems to have a way with the galloping dominoes and was able to take our driver to task.
Antalya is a pretty city, quite modern with a very small old town, in which our hotel is situated. The header picture is a panorama from the seaside park at the foot of the main street through the old city.

After our orientation walk, we parted company with the vagabond travelers to explore on our own. We were looking for a potential dinner location that would meet our very high standards and expectations. Along the way we encountered a wedding party in one of the side streets of the old town. With my charm and command of the Turkish language, I was able to convince the bride and groom to pose for me in a couple of photos. The locals make it great. |
